Élagage, abattage : quelles différences ?
Élagage et abattage ne sont pas la même chose :
- L’élagage : est une opération annuelle qui consiste à réduire la hauteur et le volume des plantations dans votre jardin. Pratiquée à différentes saisons en fonction des variétés, l’élagage permet, d’une part, à l’arbuste de se fortifier et d’être plus beau l’année suivante, et d’autre part, au propriétaire ou voisin, d’être en conformité avec la réglementation concernant la hauteur limite admise.

En principe, celle-ci ne s’oppose pas à l’abattage d’un ou plusieurs de vos arbres, sauf si ces arbres sont classés dans le Plan local d’urbanisme de la commune . Vous devrez alors faire une déclaration préalable de travaux (article L113-1 & article L113-2 du Code de l’Urbanisme).

- Cut down an oak, poplar, walnut, Scots pine, elm, beech, hornbeam, linden or chestnut. this is a professional matter, because you have to :
- Know the tree well, its fragilities and define the rupture zone,

Obligation to cut down a tree: a nuisance for the neighborhood
- Even when the plantations are at the legal distance, they can be the cause of abnormal neighborhood disturbances and significant risks for third parties. The owner may therefore be forced to cut down one or more trees on his land.
- EDF may require, in order to guarantee the safety of property and people and prevent any accident to the electrical system, to cut down trees or tree branches that could cause electricity cuts or damage to structures by their movement or fall (article L323-4 of Ordinance n° 2011-504 of May 9, 2011).
France Telecom may give formal notice to any owner to prune his trees, as soon as the fall of a branch or the tree may damage the network. The owner may be held liable in the event of damage to the network.

The best time to cut down a tree: do it in winter
There are favorable seasons for felling trees, especially when the wood is going to be used as firewood or by a sawmill.
