Tree pruning services

Tree pruning services

In the strictly biological sense, a tree does not need to be pruned. It is too often mistakenly heard that pruning “does good to trees”, while it can run risks often amplified by a poor mastery of pruning techniques. A tree located in an environment that suits it, to which it is well adapted and where there are no aerial and underground constraints, and which does not show signs of dieback or parasitic attacks, does not need to be pruned.

The pruning of trees therefore meets human needs. Different types of pruning can then be practiced in connection with objectives of different natures such as, safety, health, aesthetics, clearing of infrastructure, Raising of crown. It must be understood that every cut is a wound for the tree. If the techniques used are not justified or well mastered, pruning can then cause growth reactions that go against the objectives. It is important to have the constant desire to remove as few branches as possible and to ensure that the sizes, chosen wisely, are as little damaging as possible.

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PRUNING

Safety pruning Consists of pruning branches that pose a danger to people and property. It includes the pruning of dead, diseased, broken or weakly attached branches and more than 2.5 cm in diameter.

Sanitation pruning Consists in pruning dead, diseased, harmful, interfering, broken and weakly attached branches.

Complete pruning This set of operations includes safety pruning, sanitation, Raising the crown, rebalancing the crown, restructuring, clearing structures and work areas and selection of rejects during a single intervention

Clearing of infrastructure This operation consists of clearing the traffic lanes, urban furniture and structures. The clearance distances must be specified by the owner or the client. The natural bearing of the tree must be respected, and the intervention must make sure not to unbalance its structure.

Crown Raising This operation consists in removing low branches in order to increase the ground clearance for specific landscaping needs. Excessive raising of the crown must be avoided: the part of the crown must cover at least 50% to 60% of the total height of the tree. It is not mandatory to equalize the clearance height laterally on either side

Rebalancing of the crown This operation consists in establishing the spatial distribution of the crown in respect of the natural habit of the tree.

Clearing the work areas This preventive operation consists of clearing the construction areas, the traffic lanes of the machinery and the location of the equipment in order to facilitate the work of the machinery and to mitigate the impacts and injuries during work

Restructuring This operation consists in restoring the frame of a tree that has undergone a prohibited draconian pruning (topping, trimming) or frame breakage. The objective is to restore the tree to its natural appearance and to rebalance it using the selection of rejects.

The bad practices to be prohibited The pruning or the topping of the trees is to be prohibited. The solution lies rather in the respect of its biology and its architecture

Essouching

Following the felling, the stump and the roots can also be removed. Some will want to keep this part of the tree as a souvenir, as a decoration or even simply to let nature do its work or to wait several years for the stump to rot on its own. For others who may find the stump dangerous or bulky on their property or those who wish to replant a new tree in the same place or put grass back, the removal offers an interesting alternative. Our process will ensure that the stump will no longer appear on your land.

Guying

Tree guying services The purpose of guying is to offer additional support to the structure of the tree by limiting the movements of branches or trunks in space. The objective sought by guying is to install a support frame, sometimes flexible (synthetic cables), sometimes rigid (metal rods) between branches or trunks, in order to consolidate a structure recognized as deficient or problematic. A complete maintenance pruning must generally precede the guy-wire work.

Our Duty to inform Our duty is to inform you of our observations made according to the condition of your tree and its environment as well as your interest in keeping the tree, after which, the ultimate decision to stay or not is up to the owner. On the other hand, we reserve the right to refuse a guy wire if we consider the risks too great despite the mitigation measures.

Guying is not a guarantee. It is important to understand that the action of guy a tree is not a guarantee of safety, but a measure to mitigate the risk at a level that you will consider acceptable or not following the recommendations of an expert.

The monitoring of the guy ropes In the first place, we will inform you of the various points to be observed periodically on the guy ropes installed.

Secondly, We recommend that you remind us every 2 years so that we re-evaluate the situation, regardless of the type of guy ropes installed.

Even if the different guying products have useful lifetimes determined by the manufacturers, we prefer to focus on a preventive inspection every 2 years.

The guy-wire work being completed, the guy-wires belong to you. The responsibility to follow up over time is yours.

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF GUY ROPES OFFERED

Synthetic flexible guy ropes: (non-evasive method, without drilling the shaft) Synthetic flexible guy ropes allow you to apply the principles of guy ropes without damaging your shaft since there is no need to drill holes in it to install it. The aim is to offer additional support to structures deemed at risk, but essential to the natural shape or aesthetic value of the tree.

The rigid metal stays: (invasive method to consolidate the split forks.) With the aim of strengthening the structures considered to be at risk, but essential to the natural shape or the aesthetic value of the tree or to add additional strength to sections already connected by a flexible stay.

Conservation of trees of wildlife value

The trees of wildlife value are trees to be cut down for which we keep a part of the trunk standing so that they can continue to be an ecological niche while being safe. The preserved trunk is of great interest to the fauna, which uses it to feed, to make its nest or to shelter there, it can be interesting for people with large properties where there is the presence of large trees in wooded terrain.

Urban micro forest planting

Restore part of our environment while creating in an ecological way a piece of natural heritage.

Unknown to us in Quebec, this technique is already well established in Asia and Usa. Developed by the Japanese doctor and botanist Akira Miyawaki, micro-forests have several innovative characteristics when compared to traditional tree plantations.

The Miyawaki method seeks to accelerate the ecological healing process by reproducing as much as possible the normal composition of the native primary forest. By this method, it is estimated that it will be possible to obtain in temperate zones a micro-forest comparable to that of a restored forest, whose structure (except for genetic diversity, humus, or the proportion of the senescent stage and dead wood) resembles that of a native forest, in 20 to 30 years.

More than 3000 Miyawaki forests have already been created and established around the world and this is just the beginning!

Bringing the tree to man in his living environments

Sowing diversified organic micro-forests from native tree species

Plant these high-density trees on surfaces adapting to micro environments of as little as 36 square meters up to vast expanses of several kilometers (industrial wasteland, large concrete surface, schoolyard etc ….)

Let nature take charge of its environment by simply giving it a boost at startup.

Let the competition and the plant density do its work and thus promote :

• Natural selection

• The synergy between species

• The rapid creation of a significant litter of organic matter

• The retention of water from the soil

* A dense and deep rooting that creates a solid anchoring of the group of trees

• Create a self-sufficient maintenance-free system in just 2 to 3 years

Humbly remembering that a micro-forest will never replace a real mature forest, but that it offers- in harmony with nature- a beautiful alternative to make the tree and man coexist in his living environment.

What we want to do … in summary!

* Planting micro-forests

• Within the human life environments here in Quebec

• Using Quebec native tree species and seeds

* Densely planted (3 trees per square meter)”

* Contributing to the environment and the ecology of urban environments

* Sequestering, among other things, carbon and other pollutants (GHGs).

By transmitting our vision, by sharing our knowledge and by communicating our expertise and know-how, while applying with heart and professionalism the innovations, techniques and processes that have proven themselves.

Restructuring of trees

Thanks to the restructuring of trees, we rework the architecture or the structure of the tree. With pruning and guying techniques, we strengthen the tree to counteract its weaknesses following bad weather such as wind, ice, lightning or even bad practices such as topping. Note that the restructuring is carried out over several years integrated into a regular maintenance program.

Slaughter

Although we want more than anything to preserve and beautify your trees, there are times when felling is necessary. Whether for safety reasons or to prevent the spread of disease, culling is a solution that is offered to you. We are willing to do felling by foot, by dismantling in sections or with a crane according to your needs. Note: In some cases a slaughter permit is necessary. This can be obtained from your municipality.
